Four decades ago, a little Datsun with a long hood and a bullet-proof straight six showed us that sports cars didn't have to be big and they didn't have to come from Detroit or Germany. To celebrate 40 years of the Z cars, Nissan is bringing a special edition model known as the 2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition to the U.S.
To make a worthy 40th Anniversary tribute car, start with a 2010 Nissan 370Z Touring, equip it with the Sport package, then paint it "40th Graphite" gray and give it a red interior. For extra flavor, add high-luster "smoke" finish 19-in. wheels, red brake calipers, a shock tower brace with a 40th Anniversary badge, and another one of those special badges on the rear hatch. Then climb inside and deck the interior out in red leather with red inserts on the doors and red stitching on the center console, shifter boot, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Garnish with 40th Anniversary embroidery on the seatbacks and floor mats, and a special plaque, and serve hot.
Of course, a 332-hp meal like this doesn't come at a drive-thru. Grabbing one of these beauties will run you $39,580 to start, a $1200 premium over a similarly equipped Touring model equipped with the Sport package. Sound pretty reasonable for special paint and a custom interior? Then get your wallet out now, because Nissan is only building 1000 copies of the Anniversary car, so get one while the gettin's good.
